IN PICS: ‘The Female Gaze – Art by Carol Reynolds’ event in Salon del Monte, Dúrcal

ON Saturday August 25, the successful event. ‘The Female Gaze – Art by Carol Reynolds’, gave a splash of colour to the Salon del Monte bar in Dúrcal, Granada.

Presenting diverse works of the Restábal artist, the event was attended by local business people, art aficionados, and a representative from Restábal town hall, Benjamín Ortega Freire.

Amongst the eclectic crowd were renowned Órgiva photograper, Franc Enskat; director of Hola Properties, Mathew Wood; leader of ethical safaris, Sally Claridge; Lisa-Marie Holmes of Vitalbi Apartments in Lanjarón; Ruth Elisabeth Hardy of Studio 2:4; Justine Coleman, artist and massage therapist; and Lucy Hayes Logan from Tus Alpurrajas. Chantelle Warwick of Euro Budget Moves postponed a business trip by 24 hours to attend and purchase a self portrait of Carol.

The guests were entertained by music from Fauno, which was strongly dub-influenced.

Carol’s artworks depict the vast range of emotions experienced in the day-to-day lives of women.  Her unique naked drawings show women at their most “vulnerable and powerful” and do not sexualise or objectify in any way.  This is Carol’s definition of the “female gaze”.

During the event, many prints and artworks were sold, with ‘Pink Umbrella’ being the clear favourite.

Carol thanked her team for their support: Angela Morton, Veronica of Salon del Monte, Lucy Hayes-Logan and Jo Chipper.

Next on the agenda is her solo exhibition at Ruth Hardy and Franc Enskat’s Chicken Farm Studios, Órgiva, on 18th October, entitled ‘Raw’. Please contact Carol for guest list enquiries. Whatsapp 0034 603 124 188 or Instagram @carolreynolds44 ; Facebook @carol.reynolds.509 ; TikTok @carolrara4
