Enjoy a family-run campsite set beside the beautiful Guadalfeo Valley…
LOCATED just two kilometres below the thriving market town of Órgiva – the de facto ‘Capital of La Alpujarra’ – Camping Órgiva is near the iconic Seven Eye Bridge, over the Rio Guadalfeo. It is set amongst beautiful scenery, with the magnificent Sierra Lújar as the backdrop.
Run for over 25 years by the local Garcia family, this friendly campsite is the ideal base for anyone wanting to explore La Alpujarra from a convenient central point. Thanks to the family focus, it can provide personal service to guests – whether it’s a flexible check-in time, or information on local transport, hiking routes, fiestas, and attractions.
Open all year round, and with discounts off-season and for longer stays, the campsite offers bungalows, chalets, pitches for caravans and campers, and pitches for tents. Even in high season (June to September), the prices are competitive and pre-booking isn’t necessary for tents.
A pretty site with something for every camper
Having expanded its capacity last year, with a new field providing an extra 20% of space, the site is pretty, with grassy areas, flowering plants, and trees. It has also added disabled access to the facilities block, which benefits anyone with reduced mobility.
The well-maintained swimming pool is open from June until September and is surrounded by a comfortable sunbathing area with loungers and sunshades, as well as a kiosk selling cold drinks and ice creams.
For motorhome owners, the campsite offers generous pitches, a zone for discharging grey water, a laundry room, fridge, microwave, and tables to prepare food. Free WIFI is available throughout the site. All campers can take advantage of the site’s BBQ areas.
The cost of a motorhome pitch is around 25e night with discounts for longer stays – around 50% discount for a month off-season. For tents, the prices start at approximately 22e with a car, and 18e without.
Bungalows and chalets
If setting up a tent just isn’t your thing, there’s no need! The campsite offers several wooden chalets that sleep 2-6 people, bungalows that sleep four, and a quirky, wooden treehouse (this doesn’t have a kitchen or bathroom). These accommodations have pleasant outdoor dining areas, surrounded by foliage – the ideal place to sip a coffee or read a book. In low season, the cost of bungalows starts at 65e per night for two people, 90e for four, and the treehouse at 41e.
If you want to bring your dog, they’re allowed throughout the site, with a small charge of 2.50e a day per camping pitch and 5e per bungalow. The only rule is that you keep Fido under control.
Affordable family restaurant
Camping Órgiva has a large on-site restaurant, run by a partner family. This opens from 9am until late, all year round. It’s the ideal place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and an evening meal, as well as a selection of ‘tapa’ with qualifying drinks.
From Monday until Thursday, a ‘menu del día’ (fixed price menu) is available.
Sometimes, the bar runs music nights and is a popular spot to while the evening away with friends and family.
Walk or drive?
If you want to visit Órgiva, the town is a 3min drive or 20min walk away. The campsite is also on the ALSA bus route (although the bus stops in the town itself).
For those who like hiking, the surrounding area offers the Centenary Olive route, which takes 3.5hrs. You can also choose to stroll along the Rio Guadalfeo, just beside the campsite. During summer months, the town hall creates a natural dip pool under the Seven Eye Bridge, which is a popular local attraction.
Guests can also visit the Órgiva market, every Thursday morning, to buy cheap fruit and vegetables, clothes, and homeware.
Whatever you like to do – relax with a book, swim, or hike – Camping Órgiva is the ideal base for your Alpujarra holiday.
