THE festive season is commonly linked to red, green, and metallic tones. However, Freya Rodgers of the Armario de Freya fashion store in Órgiva, is showing how people can simplify their wardrobe – and their budget – by opting for styles in black.
On Saturday 14 December, Freya created a catwalk show at Chicken Farm Gallery – a relatively new venue where “artists mingle with friends”. This venue has a high-end 70s burlesque design, and is divided into a gallery area, yoga studio area, and a bar / chillout area, where musicians perform a set.
Black fashion looks win the day (and night)
The event, ‘Back to Black’, included a photographic exhibition with works from renowned local photographer, Franc Enksat, food, drinks, music – and the odd Santa Claus.
Says Freya: “The inspiration behind the catwalk show was my return to dressing only in black, and how many ways there are to wear black. Before the expo, I wore black for 35 days to reduce my wardrobe and be more sustainable. Franc Enksat had created an exhibition of his stunning black and white photography, and the themes matched perfectly.”
Freya acted as stylist with the models, and choreographed the catwalk show herself. It was a resounding success, with two actuations – daytime wear and evening wear – with all garments available from Freya’s store on Calle Correos, Órgiva.
