THE RUSTIC FESTIVAL in Lanjarón took place over the weekend of 9 to 11 March. Now in its second year, it combined eclectic music, culture, Alpujarran cuisine, and the natural environment. As in 2024, the family-friendly event was held in the spa town’s Parque del Salado, which can accomodate 2,000 guests.

An annual fixture
Eskorzo and Tomasito headlined the second edition of Rustic Festival. Promoted by musician, Raúl Soto, and supported by the Ayuntamiento de Lanjarón, the festival is becoming a firm fixture on Alpujarran musical calendar. It will run its third edition in May 2025.
Mayor, Eric Escobedo, emphasised the cultural, social, and tourism elements of Rustic Festival, and the importance to the area.
Promoter Raúl Soto explained: “Rustic Festival is a cultural event in the heart of Lanjarón, surrounded by nature, with alternative activities, local cuisine, and top-level artists. We designed a program for family enjoyment, featuring established artists such as Eskorzo and Tomasito, my own group, Arrímate ar queré, and a selection of emerging talents.”
Between groups setting up on stage, local DJ, Pablo Tito, spun some funky tunes. There were also yoga sessions, guided walks, and artisan stalls.
Raul says: “For me, the best thing was stopping and watching so many familiar people – family, friends, countrymen – enjoying themselves together.”
Lanjarón celebrates its main annual Saint’s Day fiesta – San Juan – on and around 24 June. South of Granada will be covering that event, in the usual style!
